Res Com Update:  3-Day Class

3-Day Class: Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 

A PC with internet capabilities running MS Windows operating systems (Windows 98, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 or 8), along with the latest version of Adobe Reader.

Class Details:

* The purpose of this advanced 3-day class is to update the experienced Commercial technician on the operation and troubleshooting procedures on new products. These new products include, but are not limited, to all Air-Cooled product and accessories (includes Synergy), remote monitoring, load shed modules, Evolution and Nexus controlled Protector Series Gaseous/Diesel product, and associated Transfer Switches. Approximate classroom/Lab time 6/18 hrs.

Required on-line classes – (Learning Center) Basic Electricity, Basic Generator Theory, Air Cooled Engines, Schematic 1, Introduction to Protector Series Diesel Generators and Installing Liquid-cooled Residential/Commercial Generators.  These online courses need to be completed only once. Please refer to the Service Training Policy and Requirement Manual 0L4102 for more information.

Course Prerequisite:

* Any Commercial Level course is the prerequisite for the Res/Com Update Course The Res/Com update class is offered to all Commercial level certified technicians who have completed a Commercial level course.

Cost: $750 – includes program materials and lunch.

Curriculum:

  • Nightly assignments
  • Electrical safety
  • Evolution Control Panels system fundamentals and testing
  • Updated Emissions controls
  • Protector Diesel Fuel Systems – safety and treatment
  • Fuel and Ignition System Fundaments
  • Alternator improvements, operation and testing
  • Battery, starter and charging system fundamentals and testing
  • Transfer switch updates, load sharing familiarization and testing
  • Hands-on Troubleshooting
  • Use of Schematics & Wiring Diagrams
  • Reviews of new Air Cooled (OPE and HSB) and Commercial Products

Please be advised – all cotton clothing required. No polyester, shorts, tank tops, sneakers or open-toed shoes allowed. Cell phones and/or pagers are not allowed during training.

Training is held at Authorized Services of New England (ASNE) located at 410 Forest St., Marlborough, MA  01752.

What time does training start and when does it end?

Training starts at 8:00am and goes until 5:00pm each day.

Do I need to bring any tools with me?

No, everything you need for the class will be provided.

Are there any classes I need to take prior to training?

Yes… there are 4 online classes you will need to take.  This information will be sent to you a few weeks prior to the class.  (Note – you will only need to take these classes 1 time.)
